In Which Carol Feels Better
I have the most amazing girlfriend ever in existence.
Heather just called, with her cell on speakerphone, with her friend Stacey. And a piano. And sang me the Lullaby, which is my favorite song ever, not least because Heather wrote it herself. I am now a little pile of goo. She knows exactly where all my emotional barriers are and exactly how to render every last one of my defenses useless. It's part of what makes Heather so amazing, the way she knows me inside and out.
And the way she puts up with my random insanity, even when it annoys her. Sometimes she makes me feel safer than anyone or anything else in the world ever could and sometimes she pushes -- or she makes me push -- the boundaries of my comfort levels but it's always right and while it wouldn't be with anyone else, it's okay because it's Heather. And when I'm feeling all 1000 miles between us, she does something that reminds me that no matter how far apart we are, in some ways we're closer than ever.
I love her.
