Of Cloaks
I have decided that I need a cloak. The kind that falls to my ankles and flares out behind me in a stiff wind. Make of Polartec and wool blend. One side navy blue, the other a dark grey. And I can pull it around me like an enormous blanket and feel safe and protected and warm. Because when you're wearing a cloak there's a sense of I'm in here, you're out there and it's very comforting.
Prior to this I have been desirous of obtaining a cloak, but it has not been viewed in the context of true necessity. Sunday, however, Jessica asked me to hold her cloak for her and since I was carrying things, I ended up wearing it. And lo, I was enlightened. It's one of the best feelings in the world and you can enfold people in cloak hugs so they're on the "in here" with you. I haven't felt that safe and comfortable since I got back from Spring Break.
I know what I want for next Christmas...
